Inking Wood Veneer | Tutorial

Hi there!

Laura here with another one of my Wednesday tips for you!  I know I have shared a few different ways to add colour to wood veneer here in past, and even once before by using Distress Ink,  Well today's tip is similar but we will be using regular water based dye ink, that way those of you that do not have the alcohol based Distress Inks can play too!

So let's get started!

Gather your supplies, you will need any wood veneer shape, a dye ink of your choice and a water-brush (or a regular paint brush and a bit of water).

Start by rubbing your wood veneer piece on your ink pad to pick up as much colour as you can over the entire piece.

You will notice that due to the lack of smoothness on the surface of the wood veneer the ink doesn't absorb evenly.

This can be fixed with a few brush strokes of your water-brush.

It is just enough to smooth out the pigment from the ink over the surface of the wood veneer. You do not need to add much water at all really.

This has got to be one of the easiest and quickest ways to alter the colour of your wood veneers!  If you like a shiny finish why not top with a coat of Glossy Accents, for me I am sticking with a matte finish on this baby!

Have a great day!
